Silicium is an essential component of the skin. Indeed, by interacting with structure and elastic proteins within the dermis, the silicium insures optimal skin organization and architecture. This ingredient is an anionic polysaccharide obtained by bacterial fermentation from non-GMO vegetable substrates. It contains L-fucose, D-galactose and galacturonic acid and are responsible for the skin’s natural ability to hydrate and retain water. They are so critical for skin soothing, moisturizing, anti-aging, repair and skin renewal.
This ingredient can be found in plants and is a form of vitamin B5, also referred to as pantothenic acid. Panthenol has been deemed safe by the FDA, useful for improving appearances and softening the skin. Because of panthenol’s humectant-like properties, it is easily absorbed into layers beneath the skin’s surface. As a humectant, provitamin B5 stabilizes the skin barrier function, reducing the amount of water lost through the skin.
